Crimson clover is a typical meadow plant that develops very quickly and spreads widely. It is extremely suitable to be used as green manure.
Crimson clover is a one crop plant, and does not re-sprout. Although suitable for Mediterranean climates and environments, it is also cold resistant, and can adapt to continental climates.

It is a medium size plant with taproots, numerous erect or ascending stems, normally full. Flowers are numerous and are in individual clusters, crimson in colour.

Crimson clover adapts well to both sandy and clay soils. The seed bed is prepared simply by working it to a fine texture to ensure good establishment.
Sowing may can be carried out in autumn, both mechanically and by scattering, at a depth of 1-2 cm. The recommended seed ratio is 30-40 kg/ha.
Crimson clover is very good both for harvesting and as green manure. The product obtained is good quality and easy digestible, and is very palatable, provided cutting is carried out at the beginning of the flowering season.
